When people mention thermal spas, Czech tourists usually think of Hungary or Slovakia. However, Austrian thermal resorts are by no means behind. The best thermal spas and baths in Austria are primarily aimed at more demanding guests, but you will also find resorts perfectly suited for families with children.
Austrian thermal spas are also popular among caravan travelers. Many resorts offer large parking areas with overnight stays for a reasonable fee. If you prefer hotel accommodation, we recommend visiting in winter and combining your stay with skiing in one of the Alpine resorts.

The spring water, which emerges at 80°C, is cooled to a pleasant 34–36°C depending on the pool. The resort uses residual heat to warm its facilities, ensuring that the extremely hot water does not go to waste. Furthermore, the local water is said to be one of the most mineral-rich in Austrian thermal baths.
The complex features several different thermal and classic pools in both indoor and outdoor areas. A sauna world with 8 saunas is also available.
Parktherme Bad Radkersburg has an excellent restaurant. They buy vegetables and meat from local growers and farmers, ensuring the food is perfectly fresh. The same applies to other delicacies, including wine and beer from local breweries.

The Formal Austrian Dining
Since the days of the Habsburgs, Austrians have valued etiquette and principles of polite behavior. Since thermal baths in Austria are largely about food and restaurant visits, it pays to know a few rules of Austrian dining.
A guest used to more casual standards might be surprised by the formality and approach of the waiters. They possess refined manners and expect the same from you. You may encounter a language barrier – Austrians are proud of their language, and menus (Speisekarte) are sometimes provided only in their native German.
When visiting restaurants, pay attention to your clothing. Unlike thermal baths in Hungary or Slovakia, pack a casual jacket and long trousers for Austria. While you may be allowed into common spa bars in sportswear, you will not be admitted to the main restaurant and will be politely directed to an alternative dining facility.
