Where are the Poseidon Gardens located?
While there aren’t as many notoriously famous holiday destinations among the Italian islands as there are among the Greek ones, this country still possesses a number of “sea pearls” worth visiting. A large portion of tourists head to the capital, Ischia Porto/Ponte. It has about 20,000 inhabitants, and the city’s dominant feature is the fantastic Aragonese Castle.
Other towns like Forio or Casamicciola Terme are equally interesting. Ischia offers stunning nature and rich cultural heritage, but it is also significant as a center of spa culture. The island offers a truly spectacular concentration of thermal springs.
Among the most famous thermal complexes are baths like Negombo or the ancient Nitrodi baths, which are sometimes described as the oldest in the world. Furthermore, there is the pleasant La Romantica thermal park or the Afrodite-Apollon park.
Undoubtedly the most famous and by far the largest thermal facility on Ischia is the spa known as Poseidon Gardens (Giardini Poseidon).
These baths are located in a bay south of the town of Cuotto and only about 2 km from the center of the island’s second-largest city, Forio.

A great advantage is that the Poseidon Gardens thermal park is located directly on the seacoast and connects to the picturesque Citara beach, which is also one of the most beautiful on the island. The natural surroundings are also stunning, as the thermal baths are nestled directly under steep rocky cliffs, and the entire panorama looks exceptionally impressive.
The baths truly take the form of an elegant park with plenty of greenery and landscaped gardens, where intricately designed and beautiful pools are situated. In addition to palms, trees, and flowers, there are many terraces with sunbeds everywhere, and some pools even feature stylish shelters. There is also an indoor section with an impressive glass roof. Overall, the environment is truly striking and leaves a strong impression.
As mentioned, the thermal baths are relatively extensive, with a total area of around 60,000 m² and 20 pools of various kinds. Whether you prefer fresh or salt water, hot or cold – there is something for everyone. Of course, you can also lounge directly on the beach. In addition, saunas and fantastic spa procedures and therapies of all kinds await you.
How to get to Poseidon Gardens?
If you are staying elsewhere on the island and do not have a car, you can easily reach Poseidon Gardens by bus. Several lines run here. For example, Line 2 runs from the port in Ischia town through Forio, Lacco Ameno, and Casamicciola. The frequency of trips is quite high. Other lines (9 and 23) run from the southern part of the island.
Transport accessibility is essentially not a problem. Furthermore, the island is so small that fit tourists can practically set off on foot from anywhere and see the whole island along the way. You can choose a tourist route through the towns or over the hills, which is more demanding but offers an even more spectacular experience.
When do Poseidon Gardens open?
The thermal baths are open during the season from mid-April to the end of October – every day from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. However, from October 1st, the opening hours are shortened to 6:00 PM.

The thermal baths use water from springs of volcanic origin, which comes from the depths of the bay and reaches temperatures of up to 85 °C at the source.
Very strict hygiene standards apply at Poseidon Gardens. The pools are completely drained and cleaned every evening and refilled in the morning. No chemicals are used for water treatment – even the plants in the park are treated exclusively with natural products.
The water itself is primarily rich in bromine salts, iodine, and sulfates. It also contains smaller amounts of magnesium, lithium, calcium, and radon gas, which stimulates cell renewal and has anti-inflammatory effects. The spa primarily treats:

A medical examination is a matter of course; furthermore, you can undergo inhalation treatment, osteopathy, myofascial therapy, lymphatic drainage, a multitude of massages and, naturally, baths or wraps. There are also various cosmetic procedures for face and body treatment, shiatsu, peelings, and so on. You can also try yoga, pilates, aqua fitness or gymnastics, and much more.
Perfect Romance or Relaxation on a Private Terrace
If you want great privacy and space, renting a private terrace is a very attractive option. The price of €140 (for up to 4 people) includes the daily entrance fee, a welcome drink, and a minibar with fruit juices.
