Where is the spa located?

The Goracy Potok thermal baths is located in an exceptionally picturesque region north of the Polish part of the Tatras. It lies between the towns of Zakopane and Nowy Targ near the village of Szaflary. It is about 20 km as the crow flies to the Slovak border, and 90 km to the Czech border.

You can get there from Ostrava in less than three hours, so it is really a short distance – especially for Moravians and Silesians. But it is worth making a detour to these spas even from a greater distance. They are really exceptionally beautiful.

The character of the Goracy Potok spa

Polish thermal baths are generally not as “famous” as, for example, Hungarian ones. At the same time, they can easily compete with them, and in some respects even surpass them. Goracy Potok embodies the best of the character of Polish thermal baths. Above all, it is a fascinating environment and atmosphere. The spa is not just a purpose-built space where people go to bathe or treat certain ailments. Goracy Potok represents a perfect combination of nature, modern rustic architecture, design and entertainment.

It can be said with responsibility that it is one of the most beautiful and certainly the most unique thermal baths in Central Europe. It is not a megalomaniac complex with a tangle of hundred-meter slides or pools above a medium-sized lake. On the contrary.

Goracy Potok has a more intimate feel and focuses on coziness. However, you will definitely not be bored here. You will find more than enough activities here – for adults and children. Goracy Potok is therefore worth visiting with the whole family and no one will be disappointed.

What does Goracy Potok baths offer?

Goracy Potok Spa is a relatively young but rapidly growing complex. Just 10 years ago, you could drive along Osiedle Nowe Street and see only trees and a wooden fence that probably wouldn’t arouse any particular curiosity in you. You would certainly anchor at the very nearby Szaflary Spa. The construction of the Goracy Potok complex was only completed in 2014 and opened a year later.

Today, visitors are greeted by magnificent wooden buildings made of raw, seemingly unprocessed wood. The cash register building, which you will see first, will certainly not let you pass the street without stopping. It is incredibly stylish. And it is not just a false lure. What follows is in the same spirit, but even better.

The entire complex is located on the edge of the forest and basically blends in naturally with it. Wooden buildings are scattered among the trees. One more interesting than the other. You will find changing rooms, a bar or tapas bar, a pastry shop or grill, as well as a restaurant and bistro. The food here is absolutely delicious.

In other buildings there are saunas and various special, amazing spas. For example, peat, sulfur and many others. This spa and sauna part is situated in the quiet back part of the complex. In front, on the other hand, there are swimming pools with attractions for children.

Water slides, slides, paddling pools. The attractions are intricate and diverse and children will certainly love them. The iconic swimming pool is the rugged Ślebodny Bonior, which is bridged by a stylish wooden footbridge. Another dominant feature is the Wartki stream. An artificial stream that connects the children’s pools with the spa part of the complex.

What to see or experience in the area?

If you are not just taking a short trip to the Goracy Potok baths, but decide to spend your holiday here or nearby, you will certainly want to know what other places are worth visiting.

The baths is located only about 15 km from the city center of Zakopane. This popular excursion town will probably be well known to older people in particular. It lies at the foot of the Tatras and the historic center in particular is really beautiful. The city is famous for its markets and the gastronomic boulevard on Krupówki Street, where you can taste the best (not only Polish) specialties.

In winter, the city is a center for winter sports. There are many ski resorts nearby, but there is also the Wielka Krokiew ski jump, an ice labyrinth and a castle, as well as other great attractions. The surrounding nature then invites you to trips and hiking. It offers countless breathtaking views of the peaks of the Tatras. On the other hand, the cities of Szaflary and Nowy Targ above them lie to the north of the spa. It is also famous for its large markets, but it also offers a beautiful historic center, especially around the picturesque historic market square.

Goracy Potok Spa is surrounded by several national parks, so the wider area is really extremely interesting. Especially for nature lovers. But also for paddlers. The Dunajec, which flows through here, is one of the famous navigable rivers. Czech fans of water tourism love to visit this place. The views that you can see from the raft are truly breathtaking.

A paradise of thermal baths

Goracy Potok is not the only thermal bath in the region. On the contrary, there are a remarkable number of them. Practically across the street (and we don’t mean that as a metaphor, but literally) is the Termy Szaflary baths complex. They are smaller than Goracy Potok and can be said to be less interesting. Nevertheless, they are very popular, have excellent reviews and are definitely worth a visit.

You can continue your “spa marathon” through several more stations. These include the really nice Bialka Tatrzanska thermal baths. As the crow flies, it is about 5 km, or about 20 minutes by car from Goracy Potok. The thermal baths are located in a natural environment with a view of the surrounding forested hills.

Practically at the same distance (20 minutes by car), but further south, is Bukovina thermal baths. They also boast an attractive location with a view of the Tatras. About 30 minutes by car to the west is Chocholowskie Termy thermal baths. It is the largest thermal spa in Poland with a water area of around 3,000 m2. So you have a lot to look forward to.
