Terma Bukovina Thermal Baths and Pools

The Terma Bukovina thermal baths and pools attract guests with breathtaking views. Panoramas of the High Tatras, the Pieniny, and the Polish Beskid Sądecki mountains open up directly from the pools. Termy Bukowina is part of the Bukovina resort, promising a pleasant experience.

Where are the Terma Bukovina thermal baths located?

The thermal baths are located in a small Polish village called **Bukowina Tatrzańska** in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, just a few kilometres from the Slovak border.
Guests can best reach Bukowina by car. The complex is located in the Polish part of the High Tatras, so a longer journey should be expected.

Water at Termy Bukowina

The Terma Bukovina thermal baths and pools boast their own water with beneficial health effects. The water is drawn from a depth of **2.4 kilometres** and the well is on the  Wysoki Wierch  mountain. The rich thermal water contains 28 minerals and is heated by magma from a depth of up to 3,780 metres.

It is precisely at a depth of 2,400 metres below the Earth’s surface that the water contains the most minerals. The water contains  calcium, magnesium, sodium, sulphate anions, and bicarbonate compounds. Sulphur, chromium, and potassium are also present in smaller quantities.

Wysoki Wierch is, among other things, a frequently visited place, and we recommend visiting it. Breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape open up from it. In good weather, tourists can look out over the High Tatras, the Pieniny, and other mountain ranges.

Pools and Water Slides

In terms of the number of pools, Termy Bukowina is considered one of the smaller thermal complexes. The indoor section includes five separate pools, and guests will find the same number in the outdoor part of the complex.

Indoor Pools at Termy Bukowina

Thanks to the varied interior of the Bukowina thermal baths, visitors to the individual pools will enjoy plenty of privacy. There are fun attractions for children, an indoor slide, and a children’s corner. Adults will appreciate the free access to the restaurant and café.

The water in the indoor pools is pleasantly warm. Unfortunately, there is no sports swimming pool here. The complex thus serves primarily for recreation, which is also evidenced by the two independent jacuzzi baths.

Outdoor Pools at Terma Bukovina

The outdoor section consists of five pools and two water slides. The exterior also features an outdoor grill and a pool bar. Deck chairs and a sufficiently large sunbathing area are available for resort visitors.

Guests can reach the outdoor section dry or by water through the transition terminal in the indoor section. We note that the outdoor pool area is closed during the autumn and winter months for safety reasons.

Water Slides

The offer of water slides, as with the pools, is  relatively modest. Only one indoor water slide is open all year round – but it has an impressive length. However, the covered part of the slide also runs through the outdoor section.

The two outer slides are intended for both large and small visitors. Unlike other thermal complexes, however, there are **no adrenaline slides** or slides for multiple people to ride at once.

  • Wartko Ruła – indoor slide with a length of more than 100 metres
  • Krynconka – outdoor 53-metre-long water slide
  • Łostry Śwung – a steep slide with a length of 15 metres

Saunarium Terma Bukovina

The Terma Bukovina thermal baths and swimming pools offer rich services within the relaxation services. Visitors do need a separate ticket to the saunarium (which is not unusual), or a combined ticket for visiting both the baths and the saunarium. The visit is worth it, however.

The saunas at Termy Bukowina are based on ancient sauna traditions and are also inspired by classic Nordic sauna bathing. The main pillars are three saunas:

  • Highlander’s Sauna with a high temperature of up to 110 °C
  • Dry Sauna with a temperature of 100 °C
  • Finnish Sauna with a temperature of 90 °C

For visitors who do not favour saunas for health or other reasons, steam baths are prepared. The temperature of 40–55 °C allows for daily visits, and the one hundred percent humidity alleviates rheumatic problems, treats the airways, and cleanses the bronchi.

An excellent experience and pleasant climate is also provided by the infrared cabin.  A stay in the room heats the skin up to a depth of 4.5 centimetres and has a beneficial effect on the human psyche. The cabin uses infrared energy, where up to 80% penetrates directly into the body.

The places for warming the body are also related to cooling down and resting. The Terma Bukovina thermal baths and swimming pools also have enough of these. There are cooling pools, as well as ice cube machines. Resting rooms are available for subsequent relaxation.

 Spa & Wellness

What would baths and thermal pools be without a wellness section? A special reservation is required for the spa & wellness sector. Although the massages and other procedures are part of the resort, it is a separate operation with its own administration.

Visitor reviews and experiences of the Bukowina thermal baths particularly praise the signature massage. However, there is much more to choose from:

  • Classic massage
  • Relaxing aroma massage
  • Foot massage
  • Massage with coconut oil

Physiotherapists and other staff use high-quality cosmetics during the procedures. Thanks to this, visitors can enjoy a stay in comfort, warmth, and peace while their body is treated and their mind is regenerated.

Price List and Admission to Terma Bukowina

Like other thermal baths and swimming pools, the Bukovina resort provides several admission variants. A specialty is the short 45-minute admission with surcharges for every minute exceeding the paid stay.

Price List for 45-Minute Admission
*Exchange rate used: 1 PLN approx. 0.2356 EUR*

45 minutes (approx.)
Each additional minute (approx.)
Adults 7.07 EUR 0.08 EUR
Children up to 13 years 4.71 EUR 0.06 EUR
Seniors over 60 years 4.71 EUR 0.07 EUR

Of course, the price list also includes hourly and all-day admission. As the price list shows, however, hourly admission is not very cost-effective. The combination of 45-minute or directly all-day admission, which is the most advantageous, is cheaper.

Price List for Hourly and All-Day Admission
*Exchange rate used: 1 PLN approx. 0.2356 EUR*

1 hour (approx.) All day (approx.)
Adults 18.61 EUR 23.32 EUR
Children up to 13 years 13.43 EUR 16.25 EUR
Seniors over 60 years 14.84 EUR 18.61 EUR

Since the resort focuses on families with children, the price list also includes family admission. Here, the approach of the Bukowina thermal baths is relatively varied, but more options provide enough alternatives to optimize admission so that it is the most advantageous for visitors.

Family Admission Price List
*Exchange rate used: 1 PLN approx. 0.2356 EUR*

Family Package
4 hours (approx.)
2 adults and 1 child up to 13 years 42.17 EUR
2 adults and 2 children up to 13 years 46.88 EUR
2 adults and 3 children up to 13 years 53.94 EUR
Additional child above 100 cm 13.43 EUR
Additional child between 14–18 years 18.61 EUR

Guests will not find student admission in the price list. However, it is pleasant that children up to 100 cm in height have free admission regardless of age. The discounted ticket price for seniors from the age of 60 is also pleasant. An identity document is sufficient as proof of age.

As elsewhere, admission to the Terma Bukovina thermal baths and swimming pools does not include entry to the saunarium. This can be purchased either more advantageously as part of a complete package or separately for 20 PLN (approx. 4.71 EUR) for 45 minutes. The ticket price includes a sheet or a towel.

Terma Bukovina Opening Hours

Potential guests will not find out too much about the opening hours on the websites. Terma Bukovina thermal baths and swimming pools are open every day from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The last 45-minute tickets are sold until nine in the evening, and the pools and attractions are cleared from 9:45 PM.

Part of every thermal complex is also a plan of closures for individual attractions. Termy Bukowina informs about these on their  website. We recommend checking the opening hours during public holidays, Christmas, and other occasions on the thermal baths’ website for certainty.

Unlike other thermal baths, the opening hours are relatively lenient. However, this only applies to the spring and summer months. In autumn and winter, a large part of the attractions and swimming pools close due to unsuitable weather, and only a small part of the thermal baths remains.

Accommodation Options at Terma Bukowina

Given that the Terma Bukovina thermal baths and swimming pools are part of the resort of the same name, the accommodation options are relatively varied. Due to the location, family and private hotels are also located near the resort.

Hotel BUKOVINA
Hotel BUKOVINA is located directly in the complex. Unlimited entry is included in the stay. You can make a reservation, for example, HERE.
  • Hotel Bukovina – a resort hotel focused on families with children. Guests can get directly from the hotel to the thermal baths. The four-star mountain-style hotel provides rooms with a balcony, and if visitors are willing to overlook the limited winter operation of the thermal baths, they will enjoy winter stays here the most.
  • Hotel Harnaś – a hotel for couples located approximately 20 minutes on foot and 5 minutes by car from the resort and thermal baths. It was completely renovated in 2016 – today it offers rooms with a bright interior and a balcony overlooking the mountains.
  • Pensjonat Orlik – guesthouse-type accommodation is suitable for families with children. However, the guesthouse offers above-standard services. It is located approximately 20 minutes on foot from Terma Bukowina,  but due to its location near the forest, it is an optimal base station for mountain walks.
  • In addition to three- and four-star accommodations, there are also AirBnB accommodation options in the village. However, shared accommodation in Poland carries the stigma of not-so-positive reviews, and visitors’ experiences are very contradictory. We therefore recommend caution or choosing the Booking.com platform instead.

Reviews and Visitor Experiences

What do visitor reviews say about Termy Bukowina? If we look at the positive ones, they especially praise the great bathing and pools with different water temperatures. The offer of the indoor and outdoor buffet is also pleasant, where visitors can get good food at low prices from local ingredients.

Positive visitor experiences also concern the accommodation in the hotel. Here, guests praise the breakfast including drinks and, in the same breath, point out that drinks for dinner are not part of the half-board and are paid for separately.

If we look at the other end of the spectrum, we see negative reviews concerning the overcrowded complex and the confusing layout. Some visitors also complain about the stuffy atmosphere in the indoor part of the complex.

Terma Bukowina will appeal to families with children

A trip to the Polish Tatras and a stay at a high altitude will refresh the body and mind. Thanks to the location of the Bukowina thermal baths, a stay here is suitable not only for relaxation by the water but also for cycling and walking on the local hills.

The Terma Bukovina thermal baths and swimming pools are a great opportunity for an atypical holiday in beautiful nature. However, one must expect the shortcomings of a smaller complex, which are longer queues and occasionally overcrowded areas. Nevertheless, we believe that families with children will enjoy their stay to the fullest.
